Enroll in Course
The Digital Perspective courses collection includes three courses designed specifically for researchers. The three courses in the collection are complementary but distinct from each other: the first course invites the participant to reflect on their profile content and networking strategy; the second course teaches the participant the Wordpress software to build a website from scratch; and the third course is more informational in scope, covering relevant aspects of IP. The courses are as follows:
- Your professional profile & networking (reflective)
- Build your own website in a day (software)
- Intellectual property essentials (information)
Descriptions of each course and the corresponding curriculum can be found via the individual course links below. Each course can be completed within one day or spread over a longer period of time, it is entirely up to you. We recommend that you complete all the three courses in the order they are listed above, starting with Your professional profile & networking, then progressing to Build your own website and finishing with Intellectual property essentials. As you finish each course, you will be awarded a certificate of completion for your records.
Why is this important?
Building and maintaining a professional network, both offline and online, is a key requirement for all researchers and an effective network can have a very positive effect on your career, whether it is in academic research or beyond. In addition, taking the time to ensure that your professional profile presents you, your skills and experience, your values and your interests in the way that you would like to be perceived by others is worth the effort.
Who is this course for?
This course is designed specifically for researchers working in universities and institutes. The content of the course is for staff and students from any field of study and any stage of their career, though we think it will be of particular interest to PhD students and postdoctoral researchers.
The course content is presented using a variety of formats such as text, interactive graphics, images, videos and exercises to suit a range of studying preferences. It is designed to fit into a researcher’s busy schedule, therefore it is short, concise and can be completed in your own time.
What do I need?
All of the content is contained within the course, so all you will need is a quiet space, a computer or mobile device (we recommend a laptop, desktop computer or tablet so that the screen is not too small), an internet connection and headphones so that you can hear the sound on the videos. We hope you enjoy it!
